Working Definition of Islamophobia – 17.9.2018

The APPG on British Muslims is currently conducting an inquiry into a working definition of Islamophobia.

So far, the APPG has received wide-ranging written evidence for this inquiry. Evidence received has been from political representatives, civil society organisations, statutory bodies, Muslim organisations and by others that took part in the open written evidence process. Similarly, many oral evidence sessions were held by the APPG to gather further evidence. The APPG during the summer has now opened this process to local communities to further involve those on the grassroots.

The APPG has already held similar community consultation sessions in Manchester, Sheffield and Birmingham. The APPG believes it is extremely important to include grassroots actors and communities in this highly significant inquiry process.

The final community consultation is being held in London and I am honoured to host such an initiative in my own constituency. Although this is being held in my constituency invitations will be sent to contributors across London. Thus, on such an important piece of work, I would be grateful if you could join me in this consultation in London.
