Let us have a glimpse from their life journey and understand the basic principle of living from their teachings……
Guru Nanak Sahib travelled worldwide in all four directions covering approx 32000 miles in 20 years at that time (on foot) from year 1499 to 1521 (known as 4 Divine journeys called UDAASIs) covering Sri Lanka Afghanistan Tibet Kabal Kandhar Haridwar Banaras Bengal

Assam Jagan nath Puri Ceylon Madurai
Gorakhmatta
Bhutan Srinagar
Baghdad Basra Etc
for spreading the message of One God, Sarbat Da Bhala (welfare of all mankind) and to save common man from the horrible grip of myths, illusions, falsehood and illiteracy.
He is termed as 2nd most travelled personality in the world due to these 4 UDAASIs.
They were the one who stood for giving equal rights to women at that time when women were termed as “Paair ki jutti” (footwear), but they wrote in Bani Asa ki War (sacred hymns) that
SO KYON MANDA AKHIYE JIT JAMME RAJAAN.
(Why use bad words for her, from her only kings are born)
He served food to hungry saints out of his pocket for Rs 20 (at that time 540 years back), this money was given to him by his father for doing business, now this Langar system is famous worldwide n lacs of people have Langar daily (Free kitchen)
from Gurudwaras and camps all over the world (Harmandir sahib Amritsar, Bangla Sahib Delhi, Sis Ganj Delhi, Nanak Darbar Dubai, Abchal nagar Nanded, Patna Sahib Bihar are to name a few out of these ).
Three golden rules given by them to this world….
*1. KIRAT KARO*
Means….. Make earnings doing creative hardwork through honest means. Never run away from work and duties. Be simple, take care of your needs. Money is not the evil, it’s evil only when your greed has no end.
*2. NAAM JAPO*
Means….Always remember almighty (he may be Allah, Ram, Waheguru, Jesus or whatever name u give to him)
But feel his presence everywhere. It refers to the meditation or contemplating the various Names of God (or qualities of Wonderful God), representing the formless being.
Be truthful from within. Refrain from superstitions, blind faith and austerities. Being Godlike is to have the virtues that make you a better human being.
*3. WAND CHHAKO*
Means ….Share what you have with others who are Needy….. and make the journey of this life worthwhile. The more you share the more you get /earn. Sharing can be of wealth, knowledge, physical help or anything that can be beneficial to others/ needy. Life is a journey, one day it will end and nothing will go with you hence share.

Baanis (holy hymns) like JAPJI, ASA KI WAR, SIDH GOSHT, AARTI (Aarti is ceremony of light about which nobel laureate
Rabinder Nath Tagore has quoted that its a universal Anthem).
