ECO MEETINGS
This New Year, 2020 is a most critical year because a major United Nations climate change summit will take place in Glasgow known as COP26 when representatives of every nation on earth will come to join the UN to address how we can meet the climate targets. Up to 30,000 delegates are expected to attend the event at Glasgow's Scottish Events Campus (SEC) at the end of next year. It is designed to produce an international response to the climate emergency.
It was the last big COP in 2015, when faith groups had a major impact on the outcome in Paris and at that time Faith in the Climate was formed and members went to Paris. Here in Redbridge in 2015, we had events to raise awareness ofthe environment, including through the Interfaith walk , organised by Redbridge Faith Forum.
Faith in the Climate is a NGO https://www.faithfortheclimate.org.uk/About-Us – a small organisation with one objective to raise awareness among faith groups about the Climate emergency. .It is our local engagement of faiths that will build a crucial impact at the national and international level. Here in Redbridge many residents have family and friends in places in the global south, like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Somalia and India, where the effects of climate change are faced directly.
