Redbridge Faith Forum Climate Change events

Eco commitment

As part of RFF's Eco commitment it would be great if members could get interested in  the changes we need to make so that our faith buildings  move towards zero carbon. Borrowing a thermal camera to check for heat loss in buildings  is a good way to start.

Transition Ilford is again offering its Thermal Camera free loan scheme this winter to faith and community groups to use in their buildings.

This easy to use  camera will help you to identify where your  buildings are losing heat, and give you an idea of  the insulation you need.

To book the camera follow this link https://www.transitionilford.org/community-energy

Walk of Peace 21

Each year Redbridge Faith Forum arranges an Interfaith Walk through Ilford, our theme for 2021 is Faith, Water, and the Climate Emergency to highlight the need for urgent action on climate and nature ahead of COP26, the United Nations Climate talks, due to be held in Glasgow.

A range of faith venues were visited where walkers  heard perspectives on this topic from leaders from different faiths in Redbridge.

Additionally faith leaders have recorded individual video messages giving their unique response on this vital topic of faith, climate and the global emergency which are available here on the Redbridge Faith Forum website.  People of faith are trying to understand how to  play their part in the climate emergency.”

Redbridge Faith Forum has been taking climate change issues seriously since it was founded. In 2005 we put together this document Faith perspectives on Climate Change

Make Redbridge Greener

In July 2019 a large group of Redbridge residents met to discuss how we can make Redbridge Greener.  Click to get a summary of the ideas shared

Faith Perspectives on Climate Change

One good way to learn more about faith perspectives on climate change is to visit the Faith for the Climate Website. They are helping people of all faiths in the UK to understand more about what they can do and they are very well linked up internationally too.

Faith for the Climate exists to encourage, inspire and equip faith communities in their work on climate change. Climate change is the biggest and most urgent challenge facing humanity. People of faith see our planet as a gift, and believe we have a sacred responsibility to care for and protect the Earth’s climate for future generations.

Many of our faiths and belief systems also share a “Golden Rule”: treat others as you wish to be treated. Faith communities have a unique and precious role to play – in our thought, speech, worship and action, alongside and in partnership with secular environmental organisations – enabling people of faith to live out their calling by acting to protect the climate.

Please visit Faith for the Climate website  Faith Resources page for resources to engage, equip and inspire faith communities for action on climate change. This is a really good place to start to find out what each of the main UK faiths have to say about the climate.

Some of our members are really concerned about the challenges facing our planet because of climate change. We are building a series of resources about Climate Change from the perspective of faith.
