Trees for Cities is holding a tree planting day in Goodmayes Park and Orchard Playing Fields (formerly known as Goodmayes Rec) on Saturday 23rd November 10am – 3pm. Everyone is welcome to join us, it might be especially ideal for a volunteer group, youth club, gardening club or environmental society.
There will be a chance for everyone to plant trees on the day. A free hot lunch and drinks will be provided along with all the tools you need.
In Goodmayes Park we are planting small young trees in the area in front of the existing woodland to create more space for wildlife and for local residents to enjoy. At Orchard Playing Fields there will be more young trees which will create a green area around the edge of the sports pitches so they are still useable.
Trees for Cities has been running tree planting events all over the UK for nearly twenty years, including two projects in Goodmayes. In 2011 we planted the existing woodland in the northeast corner of the Goodmayes Park and in 2017 we planted some orchard trees alongside the allotments near the recreation ground, which is why it’s now called the Orchard Playing Fields.
